The assistant Director for the Directorate of Mathematical and Physical Sciences of the National Science Foundation (NSF) of United States, Dr. Fleming Crim, visited on March 11th AURA Observatory in Chile, which hosts CTIO, Gemini and SOAR telescopes and future LSST project.

AURA Observatory in Chile (AURA-O) is the representative for the astronomical facilities operating in Chile under the auspices of Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA). These facilities include Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (a division of the U.S. National Optical Astronomy Observatory), Gemini South (a division of Gemini Observatory), the Southern Astrophysical Research (SOAR) Telescope, the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) project, and more than 10 other telescopes and astronomical projects operating on Cerro Tololo and Cerro Pachon in the 4th region in Northern Chile.  AURA-O operates in Chile under Chilean law, through an Agreement with the University of Chile and with the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile.  NOAO and Gemini are operated by AURA under cooperative agreement with the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF).
